Information Development

Ann,

Your contract with our department is ending soon. I thank you for all the good work you've done here and wish you good luck on your next venture.

I don't know that I've seen any writer pick up our product, tools, and procedures as fast as you did. Your wealth of technical experience no doubt prepared you for the transition. I must also credit your confidence and willingness to try our procedures--doing what you can from the procedure docs, finding the right people to help when necessary. Your quick adaptation to our department was a very pleasant surprise. Perhaps not as surprising (but no less pleasant for me!) is your knowledge of style and publishing issues. I appreciate the advice that you gave, and am confident that today our library is better for it.

A trait that does not come with experience, but that has got to be appreciated by any team leader, manager, or customer, is your willingness to respond to the needs of the business. From my perspective (and my manager's), sharing our sense of urgency was supremely reassuring. Thank you for consistently addressing so quickly and completely what we identified as important issues.

I think the books that you worked on, and all information units that share the "common files" that you also worked on, are in the best shape I've ever seen. They're the most accurate, most readable versions I've seen in my seven years in the department.

For me, I'm sorry that your contract is ending and you won't be with us any more. For you, I wish and expect the best!

Computer Instructor

CEU Administration

This year I have completed four computer classes under the supervision of Ann Gordon, a teacher on your staff. Being a senior citizen, I have, during my lifetime, experienced many instructors, including college professors and I have found that it is indeed rare to find a dedicated teacher such as Miss Gordon.

Her classes are exciting, informative, and full of incentives for learning. Hours are spent outside of class to bring in material that will be beneficial to her students for years to come. She creates an environment that is cheerful and makes students eager to learn. Her skills are kept current and up-to-date in the field of computers, which is a very difficult thing to accomplish due to the constant and rapid changes in this field.

Since teachers, such as Miss Gordon, are difficult to find, it is my belief that such dedication should be recognized and rewarded.

Yours truly,
Deborah Taylor

Computer Instructor

CEU Director

Before your current term ends, I'm writing to tell you what a gifted teacher you have in Ann Gordon.

I enrolled in her PageMaker and HTML courses last summer, meeting twice a week, and I profited greatly from both classes. Ann was a sturdy, no-nonsense instructor who led us through not only the lessons in the manuals but also stimulating materials and resources from her own explorations. She has a very facile mind and kept us panting to keep up, but she also listened carefully to our questions (letting us struggle and find our own answers if we could), always there with the solution if the going got too rough. She pushed us hard, and with the amount of materials to be covered, she had to.

We also had a lot of fun with her, and she made it clear she was having fun too, an interesting and entertaining guide through unfamiliar territory. I was impressed with her bookkeeping methods. Her up-to-date logs of completed assignments,m scores and work still due helped us avoid misunderstandings and confusion about our grades.

She also gave me some very valuable individual help to get my home computer office up to date. Without her vast experience in both IBM and Macintosh systems, I would have continued to be in way over my head and behind the times.

I just wanted you to know the high caliber of her help and support.

Happiness and success,
Cris Coffey

Editor

To Whom It May Concern

Donna Ann Gordon has been doing work for our school since 1990. She has edited and typeset 10 of our courses, a total of 281 lessons. She has printed out camera-ready copies for us to reprint and has also submitted backup copies of all completed work on Macintosh-compatible computer disks.

Since many of these courses were written in the 1920s, this work sometimes involved major revision, especially regarding style, form and factual references which had become outdated. She also corrected grammar, spelling, etc.

Ann also created a new version of our brochure, including scanning in our logo and creating the whole brochure in PageMaker. The one we had before had been created on a typewriter and was difficult to update.

Our lessons and brochures now appear more professional and we are pleased to have hired her to do this work for us.

Sincerely,
Joseph Garduno, President
