Computer Literacy (MSOffice Suite) -- BCIS 1010
Course Description
This course uses the Microsoft Office Suite to teach students computer basics, Windows OS, word processing, data processing, spreadsheets, graphics, Internet, and e-mail skills. After completion of this course, students will be able to use the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite for business and personal use. Graduation from the CEU community college requires successful completion of this course. At the end of the course, students are offered the CEU Computer Literacy exam. To pass the course, and to meet graduation requirements, student must score 80% or better on the exam.

Desktop Publishing (with PageMaker) -- BCIS 2430
Course Description
This course introduces students to the concepts of desktop publishing using MS Word, PageMaker and graphics, which are provided. Concepts covered include creation of personal and company letterheads, flyers, brochures, and booklets. Students will also create personal business cards and a four-page newsletter.
Prerequisite: A word processing course or equivalent experience.

Word Processing (MSWord) -- BCIS 1405
Course Description
This course is designed to teach basic word processing techniques using MS Word. Following the completion of the course, students will be able to use the MSWord application for personal and business use, including desktop publishing, business letters, report and table formatting, template selection and use, and mail merge.
Prerequisite: BCIS 1900 or Keyboarding I.

Intro to Internet & Web Site Design -- BCIS 1300
Course Description
This course starts as an introductory Internet course, covering the major Internet services, including e-mail, search engines, FTP and HTTP, and the World Wide Web. Students will gain hands-on experience with these services and will learn how to effectively use the Internet for business as well as pleasure.
Students will then learn how to use an HTML editor to create simple Web sites that consist of several pages and graphics. Students will register with a free hosting service and post their Web site online.
Prerequisite: Previous computer experience.

HTML & JavaScript -- BCIS 2300
Course Description
This is a Web page authoring course designed to teach students how to design advanced Web pages, including the use of frames, forms and simple JavaScript applets. Graphics content, layout, and aesthetics will be stressed. JavaScript "snippets" will be used to enhance Web page functionality and appearance. Web-based forms, data collection and dynamic Web pages will also be covered.
Prerequisites: Computer Literacy class or equivalent experience; BCIS 1300 or Web page authoring experience.

Business English & Communication -- BUSN 2030
Course Description
This course is required for students working towards an AAS in Business Administration. The course is designed to teach students how to write clear, concise, and correct business correspondence. Course focus is on the common forms of business writing, including sales letters, memos, proposals, and presentations. Electronic communication is studied, including how to use e-mail for business and how to send e-mail attachments. The proper format for business writing is stressed, with emphasis on proofreading for "mistake-free" correspondence.
Prerequisites: Introductory English composition course and word-processing course.

Elementary Typewriting and Keyboarding -- BCIS 1900
Course Description
This class is designed for students with little or no previous keyboarding experience. The class emphasizes fundamental keyboarding skills as well as technique. Touch keyboarding is taught, covering the letter, figure and symbol keys. Students are tested on both speed and accuracy, practice is necessary.

Operating Systems (MS Windows & DOS) -- BCIS 1200
Course Description
This study of micro operating systems is taught using MS Windows 98. The course covers the history of the microcomputer OS, including an overview of popular microcomputer OSs, a comparison of popular GUI OSs, and a review of basic DOS commands. Students learn file and disk management as well as good use of system resources. Also studied are Windows configuration files, setup, memory resource management, disk maintenance, optimization, multitasking, and accessory programs.
Prerequisite: Previous computer experience.

Ten-Key Operation on Computer -- OfficeAdmin 110
Course Description
This class is designed for students with little or no previous ten-key experience. The class emphasizes fundamental ten-key skills as well as technique. Speed is stressed and daily practice is expected in order for the student to gain sufficient skill and speed to pass the class. Touch ten-key operation is taught where students are expected to learn ten-key operation without looking at the keys. Students use PCs for this class instead of 10-key machines.
